SchoolPool, a program of the Florida Department of Transportation, is a free transportation resource and participation program available to schools in Broward, Palm Beach, Martin, and St Lucie counties. The goal of the program is to increase the number of families in our communities that carpool, bike, or walk to and from school.
The SchoolPool program is administered by South Florida Commuter Services (SFCS). SFCS is the regional commuter assistance program funded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), providing assistance to commuters, businesses, and municipalities in South Florida. For more information on SFCS, visit www.1800234ride.com.
The SchoolPool program is a voluntary program offered by South Florida Commuter Services and sponsored by the Florida Department of Transportation. SchoolPool recognizes its obligation to its registrants, community and online visitors to adhere to the highest standards of decency, fairness, and integrity in all of its operations. Likewise, SFCS is dedicated to the fundamentals of protecting consumer privacy.
Gathering and Use of Information:
SFCS collects personal information from participants on a voluntary basis only. We do not require this information for users to obtain access to any portion of our program. However, in order to participate in some of the programs offered by SFCS, you may have to provide personal information. These programs are described in more detail below. As explained below, personal information received from any participant will be used for internal purposes only and will not be sold or provided to third parties.
Any personal information submitted will be used by South Florida Commuter Services to send registrants a list of potential carpool, bike, and/or walk partners. This information will be used only to help match registrants with others who are interested in sharing a ride, walking, or biking. This information is accessible only by SFCS. If personal information is to be used for any other purpose, it will be indicated to you. Your participation in this program is strictly voluntary and the School Board and/or participating schools are not responsible for the negligence or other actions of volunteer participants. SchoolPool and SFCS relinquish any control, responsibility, or authority over those providing transportation via carpools and do not conduct any type of investigation of driving or criminal records of those filling out applications to participate in the ride sharing program.
Other SFCS Programs:
For SchoolPool programs outside of ride matching, personal information including your name, address, and e-mail is collected as part of contest entry forms and requests for information or inclusion on our e-mail list. Occasionally, we may also ask for personal information for our own internal marketing use. You may provide this information on a voluntary basis. If you provide this information to SFCS, we will maintain your privacy and will not sell or provide this information to third parties. Only those people who ask to be added to our email list or who ask for information from us will receive e-mail communications from SFCS. We also offer an “opt-out” feature that allows you, at any time, to have SFCS discontinue e-mail communications.
As in our other business operations, SFCS approaches our communications with respect for, and commitment to, individual privacy rights, concern, and respect of participants. We support active self-regulation of this new environment to ensure that responsible marketers can maintain the right to use all communication media to interact with their consumers.
If you have any questions about SchoolPool’s Privacy Policies or procedures, please contact South Florida Commuter Services or call our toll-free number 1-800-234-RIDE (7433). We are prepared to address any concerns you may have about the privacy, safety and appropriateness of the SchoolPool program.
